What will happen during my scan
On arrival at the clinic we will ask you to fill in a registration and consent form in our comfortable reception area. Refreshments will be offered. We will then take you and your guests through to the scan room where you can get yourselves settled for your FIRST GLIMPSE experience. You will be asked to lie on the scan couch and lower your clothing to expose your tummy. Tissue will be tucked into your clothing to protect it and a warm gel will be put onto your tummy. Once the scan has begun you and your guests can either view the scan on the ultrasound monitor or the wall mounted TV. We may ask you to change position during the scan to enable us to obtain different views of baby. Sometimes it may be necessary for you to get up and have a little walk about in order to encourage baby to move from an awkward position.
How long will the scan take?
We allow 45 minutes for each appointment this enables us to perform the scan and process and print your photographs to take away with you on the day.
Is Ultrasound scanning safe?
Ultrasound scanning has been used widely in obstetrics for many years, there are no known harmful effects to mother or baby.
What should I bring with me?
Please bring your hospital maternity notes.
When is the best time to have a 4d scan?
For optimum images we recommend between 25 and 32 weeks.
Do I need a full bladder?
No, just eat and drink as you normally would.
Will the person performing my scan be qualified?
Yes, all sonographers at the clinic are qualified in medical ultrasound and also work in the NHS performing medical scans.
Do I still need my hospital scan?
Yes, A 4d scan is NOT a medical scan, we will not be checking your baby for abnormalities. You must attend for your medical scans at the hospital.
What if the sonographers sees a problem on the scan?
Should a problem be detected, the sonographer will discuss the findings with you and then refer you to your own unit or offer private consultation with J McCormack for further assessment.
How many people can I bring with me?
We understand how special this occasion is and that you may want to share it with family and friends. We have seating in the scan room for four adults to view the scan. Obviously siblings are welcome too!
When do I need to decide what package I would like?
Once the scan is finished we can discuss the package options and you can decide then. |
